Internet History

In 1972 the first e-mail program was created by Ray Tomlinson of BBN. In 1973 development began on the protocol later to be called TCP/IP, it was developed by a group headed by Vinton Cerf from Stanford and Bob Kahn from DARPA. This new protocol allowed diverse computer networks to interconnect and communicate with each other.
In 1976 Dr. Robert M. Metcalfe developed Ethernet, a crucial component to the development of LANs. During this same year IBM created BITNET "Because its Time Network", which introduced the "store and forward" network that was used for email and listservers.

When these things happened people thought that they were good advancement when it was only the beginning of our now ever growing dependency on technology. Things these seem trivial now hardly anyone uses their email any more when they can walk around with their whole world in their phone.

Robotics Integrated With Human Body In Near Future? Technology Gulf Between 'Have' And 'Have Nots' Predicted By 2020

Robotics Integrated With Human Body In Near Future? Technology Gulf Between 'Have' And 'Have Nots' Predicted By 2020:
"Even more significant will be the insertion of robots into our bodies, such as intelligent implants in the brain, which will improve our rational thought, and nanorobots to be released into the blood to clean our arteries."

This is SOOOOO wrong its not supposed to be like that. I understand wanting to progress but i think this would be a bad idea.

Virtual Faces Created With Emotions, Moods And Personality

Virtual Faces Created With Emotions, Moods And Personality:
"The aim of this work has been to design a model that reveals a person's moods and displays them on a virtual face”, SINC was informed by one of the authors of the study, Diana Arellano, from the UIB’s Computer and Artificial Intelligence Graphics and Vision Unit. “In the same 3-D space we have integrated personality, emotions and moods, which had previously been dealt with separately”, Arellano explained to SINC."

I think the pics. kind of suck the "emotions" look really fake.

Neuroimaging Of Brain Shows Who Spoke To A Person And What Was Said

Neuroimaging Of Brain Shows Who Spoke To A Person And What Was Said:
"Scientists from Maastricht University have developed a method to look into the brain of a person and read out who has spoken to him or her and what was said. With the help of neuroimaging and data mining techniques the researchers mapped the brain activity associated with the recognition of speech sounds and voices."

That's kinda scary that someone could just go into your brain. It almost eliminates the need for questions.

Computers Determine When To Stop Searches For Missing People At Sea

Computers Determine When To Stop Searches For Missing People At Sea:
"British researchers are developing a new computer model to predict how long someone will survive when lost at sea, which will in turn determine when a search and rescue operation may be stopped."

I dont think COMPUTERS should be determining how long PEOPLE can stay alive. What if theres a special case where a person is trained to do things like that the computer could just leave them for dead thats an unnecessary death.

Robots Created That Develop And Display Emotions And Become Attached To Certain People

Robots Created That Develop And Display Emotions And Become Attached To Certain People:
"Dr Lola Caamero, of the University of Hertfordshire’s School of Computer Science, is co-ordinating a European project which is developing robots that are capable of growing emotionally, responding to humans and of expressing their own emotional states as they interact with people."
